The poké that New Yorkers have come to know and love arrived in Hawaii via California, and with it, the laidback vibe that typifies its island home. Consider Chikarashi a poke upgrade of sorts; a more elegant and refined version of its more chill cousin being offered around town. The bowls here expand on the protein selections at most restaurants popping up in the city, and feature blue fin tuna, fluke, Scottish salmon and toro prepared with ultra-fresh ingredients and artfully presented. It’s a bit pricier too, and with only eight stools, space is limited. But it’s worth the sacrifice of space and cash to experience this exquisite take on the trend.
