Description

The National Museum of Mathematics aims to dispel the notion that math is boring. The only institution of its kind in the United States, the museum—which goes by the nickname "MoMath"—features interactive exhibitions demonstrating the connections between math and such everyday subjects as music, sports and even soap bubbles. The museum conveys the message that math is constantly around us, even if we're not thinking about it—and it gives pragmatic proof that math can be exciting and fun. (It's hard for even the most math-averse visitor to resist the opportunity to ride a tricycle with square wheels.) With this kind of playful sensibility, the museum's creators hope to inspire mo' appreciation for the science of numbers.
