Long Island City’s Rincón Melania specializes in authentic Ecuadorian cuisine. Think encebollado (a hearty fish stew topped with a tangy pickled red onion salsa), ceviche and bolón (fried mashed plantains stuffed with cheese and/or chicharrón. Other favorites include goat stew, pernil and chaulafan (fried rice with a mix of meats).
