Not quite hidden nor in plain sight, this basement bar in Noho is worth seeking out. The Poni Room, tucked below the bistro Saxon + Parole, dubs itself a “rosé-centric izakaya,” so expect Asian-inspired small plates and plenty of the official drink of summer. Pick your pink wine by the glass, bottle or fish (the last of those, a ceramic carafe, is probably the most photogenic option). Rosé is also a feature player on the cocktail menu, where it’s part of drinks like the Frozen Poni Punch. Non-rosé wines, beer and soju round out the drink selections. Seafood fans will enjoy plates like uni toast, salmon tartare and barbecue oysters.
