Description

Proprietor Jim Drougas has been curating the shelves at his West Village bookstore with affordable and well-considered reads for years. His store’s name may be a mouthful, but the appellation is both playful and to the point: this shop is dedicated to helping customers build up their libraries without breaking the bank. The books and other items sold here—all of which are brand new—are never more than half the original price, and sometimes the discounts are even better than that. The store has impressive collections of poetry, travel, film, art, politics, health, Eastern philosophy and children's books, as well as bargain DVDs, CDs and records. A special New York section features guidebooks, histories and photographic anthologies, and Unoppressive also houses an area with books by or about Bob Dylan. Considering the extensive selection—did we mention comics?—you may want to bring a canvas tote along so you can carry home your purchases.
