RECENT NYC TOURISM CONTENT UPDATES

The refreshed NYC on a Budget travel hub on NYCtourism.com promotes free and affordable activities for visitors across all five boroughs, including events, attractions, outdoor spaces, seasonal content and more. New York City has 39,000 mid-tier hotel rooms with an average daily rate of $215, which accounted for 9.1 million room nights sold last year. Visitors can also enjoy over 115 cultural attractions and venues with free or suggested admission, whether year-round or on select days/hours.

Relaunched ahead of the World Cup, the NYC Halal Travel Guide spotlights dining, accommodation and activity recommendations, including World Cup resources, for Muslim New Yorkers and visitors. New York City was the first US destination to launch a dedicated resource for Muslim travelers in 2022, working in partnership with the world-leading, halal-friendly travel authority Halal Trip/Crescent Rating.

New and revamped neighborhood guides spotlighting local businesses, rolling out monthly at nyctourism.com/neighborhoods. Recent updates include Coney Island, Brooklyn; Corona, Queens Lower Manhattan; South Bronx; and Randall Manor, Staten Island.

The newly relaunched NYC Tourism + Conventions Media Library provides media with access to approved NYC photography and B-roll across the five boroughs, with enhanced search, filters and curated collections to make finding the right assets easier.

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION 

Changes to MTA Fares in 2026 and OMNY Program | Citywide | Ongoing

As of January 2026, the MTA raised fares and tolls: Subway and local bus rides increased to $3, express bus fares increased to $7.25 and commuter rail fares rose by 4.5 percent. Weekly OMNY fare caps now provide unlimited subway and bus rides for $35, while children aged between five and seventeen years can ride the LIRR and Metro-North for $1 through the Family Fare program, including during peak hours. OMNY has fully replaced the MetroCard systemwide, enabling tap-and-go payments across subways, buses, the Roosevelt Island Tram, Hudson Rail Link and AirTrain through contactless devices or OMNY cards sold at retail locations. 

NYC Ferry Two-Day Unlimited Ticket | Citywide | Ongoing

NYC Ferry offers a fun, fast and affordable way to explore NYC’s waterfront, connecting all five boroughs through 25 stops and views of landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. For additional flexibility, riders can purchase the new Two-Day Unlimited Ticket for $15, which provides unlimited hop-on, hop-off access across all six ferry routes for 48 hours. The ticket is ideal for sightseeing, spontaneous adventures, or exploring the City from a new perspective. 

John F. Kennedy International Airport | Jamaica, Queens | Ongoing

The redevelopment of Terminal 6, which will occupy the site of former Terminals 6 and 7, is scheduled to open in phases. The arrivals and departures hall and the first five gates are expected to open in 2026, followed by an additional five gates in 2028. Construction is also underway on the New Terminal 1, a major international gateway rising on the site of the existing Terminal 1 and former Terminals 2 and 3. The first phase, including new arrival and departure halls and the first set of gates, is expected to open in 2027, with full completion planned for 2030. In addition, JetBlue is renovating JFK’s Terminal 5, which will feature more than 40 new concessions as well as local art and immersive greenery and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. 

New AirTrain Newark at Newark Liberty International Airport | New York City Metropolitan Area | Ongoing

EWR is building a new 2.5-mile elevated rail guideway to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ease traffic congestion. The project includes three new stations for the AirTrain system and aligns with Newark Liberty’s ongoing redevelopment. Passenger service is scheduled to begin in 2030, with a capacity of 50,000 daily passengers.

New AI Tool Bridget Debuts at LaGuardia International Airport | East Elmhurst, Queens | 2026

LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B has launched Bridget, a hyper-realistic AI hologram concierge that helps travelers navigate the terminal by answering questions and providing directions in English and Spanish. The interactive assistant is designed to enhance customer service and includes accessibility features like closed captioning and wheelchair-accessible controls.

116th Street Redesign | Harlem, Manhattan | 2026

Construction has begun on a major redesign of East 116th Street in Manhattan, adding 2.5 miles of bus lanes, protected bike lanes, pedestrian space and other safety improvements. The project will improve service for more than 65,000 daily riders across 10 bus routes.

New York City Football Club Stadium | Willets Point, Queens | 2027

New York City FC is developing Etihad Park, New York City’s first professional soccer stadium, set to open for the 2027 MLS season in Queens. The 25,000-seat venue will feature 40,000 square feet of public space, a large supporters’ section, concessions and the Five Boroughs Food Hall, which will showcase small businesses and cuisines from across the City’s five boroughs. Beginning in 2028, the stadium will also be home to Gotham FC. 

Arthur Ashe Stadium Renovation | Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens | 2027

The US Tennis Association is self-funding $800 million, the largest single investment in US Open history, to reimagine Arthur Ashe Stadium and build a state-of-the-art $250 million Player Performance Center. This three-phase transformation, to be completed by the 2027 US Open, will include a dramatic new grand entrance, expanded concourses, upgraded dining and hospitality spaces, additional courtside seating and a luxury-focused redesign while giving players top-tier training, wellness and lounge facilities to ensure uninterrupted fan access and tournament play during construction.

Row NYC | Midtown Manhattan | May 2026

The largest hotel on Eighth Avenue reopened on May 1 after a multiyear renovation. The redesigned property features 1,331 updated guest rooms, reimagined public spaces, and a new all-day café and bar called Percy All Day.

Cambria Hotel New York Times Square | Times Square, Manhattan | June 2026

Choice Hotels’ newest hotel will open in the heart of the Theatre District. The 136-room, 25-story hotel occupies a converted 1920s bank building and features a restaurant, lounge and bar.

Sheraton Tribeca | Tribeca, Manhattan | June 2026

The 369-room hotel now features redesigned guest rooms, revitalized work and social spaces, upgraded meeting facilities and a refreshed Sheraton Club Lounge, all reflecting the Sheraton brand's modern vision. The transformation creates a more connected and flexible experience for both business and leisure travelers in the heart of Lower Manhattan.

Millennium Premier Hotel New York Times Square | Times Square, Manhattan | June 2026

Following a comprehensive renovation, Millennium Premier Hotel New York Times Square reopened on June 1. The renovation included a refresh of all 124 guest rooms and public spaces, and a redesigned guest experience.

Little Something NYC | Financial District | June 2026

Little Something is a new 172-room hotel near The Seaport, featuring a double-height lobby with limestone, oak and mohair finishes, a mezzanine lounge, and Wonderful, its neighborhood-style lobby bar. Two private, acoustically quiet studio spaces make it well-suited for team stays and offsite work sessions in Lower Manhattan.

The Rhyland Hotel | Flushing, Queens | Fall 2026

The only green development of its kind in Flushing, this 202-room hotel will incorporate sustainability and environmentally conscious features. Guests will also be able to enjoy an indoor courtyard, rooftop bar, restaurant, spa and gym facilities.

Viceroy Park Hotel | Nomad, Manhattan | December 2026

Viceroy will debut its New York City flagship following the transformation of the former Royalton Park Avenue. The 252-room hotel will feature a rooftop pool and lounge, more than 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a spa and fitness center, and dining and nightlife concepts developed in partnership with Tao Group Hospitality.

Hotel Meta | Midtown West, Manhattan | Spring 2027

Located across from the Javits Center, this 379-room property will feature a glass-wall cantilevered design and rise 642 feet. Amenities will include 8,000 square feet of meeting space, ballroom and banquet services, conference spaces and a fourth-floor restaurant.

Canopy by Hilton New York Midtown | Midtown West, Manhattan | Spring 2027

Set in the heart of Manhattan’s Penn District, this 365-room hotel will place guests across from Moynihan Train Hall and Penn Station and moments from Madison Square Garden. Guests can retreat above the City in the rooftop lounge or celebrate on the elegant open-air terrace with skyline views.

The Nell New York | Midtown Manhattan | Fall 2027

The Little Nell, hailing from Aspen, Colorado, and known for its warm and friendly hospitality, will open its second home in Rockefeller Center. The property will feature 130 guest rooms and suites, nearly 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space, two restaurants, world-class wellness amenities and a wine cellar.

Arte Museum New York | Chelsea, Manhattan | September 1, 2025

Now open at Chelsea Piers, Arte Museum New York brings the South Korean design firm district’s immersive art to the City. Themed Eternal Nature, the museum features 14 multisensory zones of digital landscapes, from cascading waterfalls to “New York is art,” which offer an experience that engages sight, sound and scent.

Cherry Lane Theatre | West Village, Manhattan | September 8, 2025

After a two-year renovation, the historic Cherry Lane Theatre, New York’s oldest continuously operating Off-Broadway theater, has officially reopened. Acquired by film studio A24 in 2022, the venue boasts a theater, cinema, and live programming featuring a star-studded list of directors, producers and actors. Before sitting in on the studio’s latest film offerings, guests can enjoy Wild Cherry, the new theater’s bar and restaurant, with award-winning restaurateurs Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson.

The Jewish Museum | Upper East Side, Manhattan | October 24, 2025

The Jewish Museum unveiled reimagined collection galleries and a new learning center in its most significant architectural upgrade in more than 30 years. Featuring more than 200 works, thematic displays, a Hanukkah lamp installation and expanded educational spaces, the renovation advances the museum’s mission to explore Jewish identity and cultural exchange through art.

Sotheby’s at The Breuer | Upper East Side, Manhattan | November 8, 2025

Sotheby’s unveiled its new global headquarters at the historic Breuer Building in November, debuting with a major exhibition of modern and contemporary art. Redesigned by Herzog & de Meuron and PBDW Architects, the space preserves the landmark’s Brutalist design while adapting it for gallery, auction and public use.

Studio Museum in Harlem | Harlem, Manhattan | November 15, 2025

The Studio Museum in Harlem reopened in its new purpose-built home featuring extensive exhibition and public spaces designed to serve artists and the Harlem community. To mark the opening, the museum is presenting a comprehensive exhibition of Tom Lloyd’s artwork, alongside a historical installation from its permanent collection spanning more than two centuries of art by artists of African descent.

New Museum | Nolita, Manhattan | March 21, 2026

The New Museum has completed a 60,000-square-foot expansion, the institution’s first since opening its flagship building in 2007. The seven-story addition doubles the museum’s exhibition spaces and features a new public plaza that is home to art installations, performances and gatherings. The museum has now reopened with an OMA-designed zero-waste restaurant, which debuted in March 2026.

Tang Wing for American Democracy at The New York Historical | Upper West Side, Manhattan | June 18, 2026

The New York Historical has officially opened the 71,000-square-foot Tang Wing for American Democracy, significantly expanding its exhibitions, educational offerings and public programs. Dedicated to the nation’s founding principles, the new wing aims to increase student participation and has added galleries and research facilities to the museum. The new wing will serve as the American LGBTQ+ Museum’s future home.

Balloon Museum | The Seaport, Manhattan | August 10, 2026

The Balloon Museum has opened its US flagship at Pier 17, bringing large-scale immersive contemporary art installations to Lower Manhattan’s Seaport district. Known for interactive exhibitions that invite visitors to engage directly with works incorporating air, light, sound and motion, the museum has welcomed more than 7 million visitors worldwide. Its NYC debut features an original exhibition with newly commissioned works by internationally renowned artists.

Aperture | Upper West Side, Manhattan | September 18, 2026

Aperture’s new permanent home features the inaugural installation Aperture Loves New York. The space includes exhibition and event areas, a bookstore and rotating photography presentations, with the inaugural installation showcasing works by photographers including Diane Arbus, Robert Frank, Deana Lawson and Carrie Mae Weems.

The People’s Theatre: Centro Cultural Inmigrante | Inwood, Manhattan | September 19, 2026

The People’s Theatre: Centro Cultural Inmigrante has opened its doors with its inaugural 2026–27 season, featuring new productions, Broadway artists, family programs, community celebrations and performances. The new venue launched with a Community Open House and Intergenerational Jazz Power Jam and will continue with a full season of theater, music and community programming.

Neue Galerie | Upper East Side, Manhattan | October 1, 2026

Following a summer restoration, Neue Galerie New York will reopen its doors on October 1 with Café Sabarsky, the Book Store and Design Shop returning to regular operations. The museum’s galleries will reopen November 12 with its 25th Anniversary Exhibition, featuring highlights from the collection including Gustav Klimt’s Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I. 

National Urban League’s Urban Civil Rights Museum | Harlem, Manhattan | Fall 2026

The museum, which will be housed in the National Urban League’s new Harlem headquarters, the Urban League Empowerment Center, will be the first in the northern US dedicated to the American Civil Rights Movement.

The Point at Socrates Sculpture Park | Astoria, Queens | Fall 2026

Opening in time for the 40th anniversary of Socrates Sculpture Park, The Point will transform an acre at the southern tip of the park into a civic space focused on ecological stewardship, public art and community engagement. Featuring long-term artist commissions, educational programs and a sculpture exhibition by Mark di Suvero, The Point will encourage visitors to explore the relationships among art, land and history.

Ellis Island Museum | New York City | Mid-2026

The Ellis Island Museum is undergoing a $100 million revitalization that includes reimagined exhibitions, theaters and technological upgrades. Construction is underway on the Family History Center, which will be renamed the Records Discovery Center and feature a mini-theater, interactive discovery stations, temporary displays and 50 percent more public research stations. The project will also expand the Records Discovery Center, increasing the searchable records in its database from 65 million to 154 million.

Canyon | Lower East Side, Manhattan | 2027

Canyon, a new 40,000-square-foot art space focusing on video, sound, performance and other time-based art forms. Founded by philanthropist Robert Rosenkranz and led by former MASS MoCA Director Joe Thompson, the venue will feature evening-focused hours, immersive technology and hospitality designed to encourage visitors to spend more time with the work.

The Hip Hop Museum | South Bronx | 2027

Located just south of Yankee Stadium, this museum will pay homage to the South Bronx’s rich culture and history as the birthplace of hip-hop (see Bronx Point in the Neighborhood Investments section below).

Here You Are: Staten Island Triennial at Staten Island Museum | Randall Manor, Staten Island | Opened January 24, 2026

Here You Are is a triennial exhibition featuring new work across fiber, painting, film, photography and graphic design by seven Staten Island artists exploring identity, heritage and home. Now on view, the exhibition, curated by Rylee Eterginoso, presents layered perspectives that feel both familiar and powerful.

This exhibition explores three perspectives on what it means to be “American” through photographs curated by three Terra Foundation fellows from the local community. Spanning the mid-19th century to 1979, the exhibition presents intimate and poetic interpretations of family, migration, fame and identity, and highlights how American art reflects both personal experience and shifting cultural contexts.

The Occupied City: New York and the American Revolution at the Museum of the City of New York | Upper East Side, Manhattan | May 1, 2026, through March 19, 2027

Marking the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, this immersive exhibition transforms the museum’s third floor into a 7,000-square-foot journey through Revolutionary-era New York, tracing the City’s role from early unrest to its emergence as the nation’s first capital. The exhibition brings to life the complex experiences of diverse New Yorkers through interactive environments and multimedia installations and emphasizes the lasting impact of their choices.

Craft of Broadway Puppetry at Museum of Broadway | Times Square, Manhattan | Opened May 21, 2026

The Craft of Broadway Puppetry at the Museum of Broadway in Times Square celebrates the design and construction of puppets used in major Broadway productions. Developed in partnership with the American Theater for Puppetry Arts and the Broadway Legacy Foundation, it features puppets, prototypes and behind-the-scenes materials from shows such as Life of Pi, Avenue Q and Frozen, along with interactive displays and workshops on puppet-making.

Angel Nevarez & Valerie Tevere: As far as the ear can hear at Wave Hill | Riverdale, the Bronx | August 29, 2026, through November 29, 2026

As far as the ear can hear features multimedia works by Angel Nevarez and Valerie Tevere exploring sound, listening and connections between landscapes and histories. The exhibition includes On Toscanini, a new installation inspired by conductor Arturo Toscanini’s time in the Bronx.

Geometries at Studio Museum in Harlem | Harlem, Manhattan | September 10, 2026, through January 31, 2027

Geometries explores how artists use lines, shapes, patterns and spatial relationships to convey emotion, express identity, and examine formal and philosophical ideas. Featuring works by artists including Alma Thomas, Julie Mehretu, Norman Lewis and Stanley Whitney, the exhibition considers geometry across abstraction and figuration, drawing connections to mathematics, cultural traditions, maps, textiles and the built environment.

This exhibit reimagines a 12-foot mechanized conveyor belt as an accessible, multisensory exhibition space where visitors can experience art through touch, sight and sound. Created by Finnegan Shannon, the installation features three successive presentations by NYC disability artists Ariana Martinez, Joselia Rebekah Hughes and Alex Dolores Salerno, exploring themes of interdependence, accessibility, identity and connection.

Andrea Modica: Italian Story at Alice Austen House | Rosebank, Staten Island | September 12, 2026, through February 20, 2027

Through traditional large-format photography and hand-printed platinum-palladium images, Modica explores time, memory and human connection. These intimate, contemplative works are featured in Italian Story, emphasizing both the material richness of the process and the emotional resonance of the images.

Chasing Clouds at The Metropolitan Museum of Art | Upper East Side, Manhattan | September 14, 2026, through February 28, 2027

Chasing Clouds traces how artists and photographers represented clouds from the early 19th century through the 1920s, as artistic conventions, scientific discoveries and photographic technology evolved. Featuring paintings, drawings, oil sketches and photographs, the exhibition explores the changing relationship between artistic expression and the scientific study of the sky.

NBC100: A Century Together at The Paley Center for Media | Midtown Manhattan | Opened September 18, 2026

The exhibition celebrates NBC’s 100-year history through photographs, props, costumes, artifacts and interactive displays spanning three floors, featuring shows including Saturday Night Live, Friends, Seinfeld, Law & Order: SVU, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and TODAY. Highlights include photo opportunities, an interactive TODAY set and an Olympic Games victory podium.

Taryn Simon | Father Country I Do Love You at Guggenheim New York | Upper East Side, Manhattan | September 18, 2026, through March 14, 2027

The Guggenheim presents a new body of work spanning photography, text, video and sculpture in an immersive installation filling the museum’s rotunda. Tracing the life of an unnamed federal agent through 42 interconnected artworks, the exhibition explores duty, loss, justice and the unseen forces that shape individual lives and global events.

Taking Back Our Space: Photographic Perspectives at Museum of Modern Art | Midtown Manhattan | September 20, 2026, through May 2, 2027

The exhibition presents Marianne Wex’s groundbreaking feminist work documenting gendered body language and how men and women were socialized to occupy public space differently. Her work is shown alongside contemporary artists exploring bodies, identity and public space through Black, queer and feminist perspectives.

Arthur Jafa: I Am Tony at New Museum | Lower East Side, Manhattan | September 24, 2026 through January 3, 2027

This is the artist’s largest museum survey to date, spanning nearly four decades of work across film, video, painting, sculpture and photography. The exhibition explores Jafa’s influential representations of Black life in America, featuring celebrated works alongside new and recent pieces.

En el lugar de los hechos (At the Scene) at MoMA PS1 | Long Island City, Queens | Opened September 24, 2026

Teresa Margolles’s work examines transnational violence, displacement, femicide and societal neglect, with particular attention to the US-Mexico border. Drawing on her background in forensic pathology and photography, she uses research, site-responsive interventions and reimagined memorials to explore how violence and loss permeate everyday life.

You Should Be Dancing: New York, 1976 and Beyond at The New York Historical | Upper West Side, Manhattan | October 2, 2026, through April 4, 2027

Exhibit explores how punk, disco and hip-hop emerged in 1970s New York City amid financial crisis, transforming the City into a hub of creativity and celebration. Featuring instruments, fashion, photographs, albums, flyers and performance clips, the exhibition highlights the lasting cultural impact of this pivotal era.

Mika Ninagawa: Feel the Flow(ers) at Brooklyn Museum | Prospect Heights, Brooklyn | October 2, 2026, through April 2027

This transforms the Brooklyn Museum’s Education Gallery into a vivid, immersive environment inspired by Ninagawa’s psychedelic floral photography and Japanese manga and anime culture. Featuring saturated colors, interactive photographic prints, performances and art-making activities, the installation invites visitors of all ages to engage with the sensory beauty of the natural world.

Día de los Muertos at New York Botanical Garden | Bedford Park, the Bronx | October 3, 2026, through November 2, 2026

Celebrate Mexico’s Día de los Muertos at the garden, where vibrant marigolds, colorful ofrendas and festive displays honor traditions of memory, life and renewal. Follow a trail of floral installations and artfully arranged calaveras, enjoy live holiday music on weekends, and take in the celebration amid fall’s golden foliage and festive pumpkins.

Saya Woolfalk: The WoodsWoman Method at The Bronx Museum | South Bronx | October 9, 2026, through Winter 2027

Saya Woolfalk presents The WoodsWoman Method at The Bronx Museum, bringing her ongoing project into dialogue with the museum’s permanent collection through works exploring speculative worlds, the cosmos, humanity’s relationship with nature, and collective storytelling. The exhibition-laboratory will also feature process materials and artist-led workshops, while informing Woolfalk’s commissioned inaugural installation for the museum’s renovated main lobby.

Locating Girlhood: Place and Identity in Early American “Schoolgirl” Art at American Folk Art Museum | Upper West Side, Manhattan | October 9, 2026, through February 28, 2027

The exhibition brings together approximately 100 examples of needlework, watercolors, maps and other artworks created by American girls and young women in the 18th and 19th centuries. Focusing on place and identity, it reframes “schoolgirl” art as an important part of the history of American landscape art while examining the colonial and early federal ideas that shaped these works.

Roy Lichtenstein: Like New at Whitney Museum of American Art | Meatpacking District, Manhattan | October 11, 2026, through May 10, 2027

Roy Lichtenstein: Like New brings together roughly 130 works spanning the artist’s career, exploring his influential approach to Pop Art and his fascination with duplication, simulation and image culture. Featuring iconic paintings alongside drawings, prints, sculpture, film and re-created murals, the exhibition reexamines Lichtenstein’s work through the lens of today’s endlessly circulated and transformed images.

Siena: The Art of Bronze, 1450–1500 at The Frick Collection | Upper East Side, Manhattan | October 15, 2026, through January 18, 2027

The Frick presents nearly 40 Renaissance bronze sculptures, including works by Donatello, Vecchietta and Francesco di Giorgio, highlighting Siena’s role as a center of artistic and technical innovation. The exhibition explores the beauty and versatility of bronze while examining the technical and political challenges faced by Sienese artists.

Rembrandt’s Lions: Art and Exile in the Dutch Republic at The Morgan Library & Museum | Murray Hill, Manhattan | October 23, 2026, through January 31, 2027

This exhibition explores the often-overlooked influence of migrants, immigrants, exiles and refugees on Rembrandt’s work and 17th-century Amsterdam. Bringing together paintings, drawings and etchings from the Morgan’s collection and other institutions, the exhibition examines how migration and diaspora shaped the artist’s world and the emerging Dutch Republic.

Tristan & Yseult at St. Ann’s Warehouse | Dumbo, Brooklyn | November 1, 2026, through November 22, 2026

St. Ann’s Warehouse presents Emma Rice’s acclaimed production of Tristan & Yseult, a reimagining of the classic love story blending live music, irreverent humor and theatrical spectacle. The production follows Tristan and Yseult’s tragic romance through a lively, unconventional staging that combines comedy, aerial acrobatics and a live band.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, MoMA PS1 offers free admission to all visitors beginning January 1. A gift from Sonya Yu funds the program, and admission will remain free for the next three years, making PS1 the largest free museum in NYC.

Marking its 50th anniversary, the New York Transit Museum presents a special exhibition exploring surprising, humorous and fascinating stories from New York City’s transportation history. The guide gives visitors an easy way to explore Brooklyn’s connection to seltzer while offering an added experience to pair with a visit to the museum.

Orchard Beach Pavilion | Pelham Bay, the Bronx | May 2026

After a 17-year closure, the historic Orchard Beach Pavilion has reopened as the centerpiece of the Bronx’s waterfront destination. Visitors can explore the restored 1930s landmark while spending the day at Orchard Beach, with new dining, recreation and gathering spaces overlooking the waterfront.

Centre 360 | Civic Center, Manhattan | June 2026

The historic cupola atop the David N. Dinkins Municipal Building is now open to the public for the first time. The free observation experience offers panoramic views more than 500 feet above street level, including Lower Manhattan, the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, the East River, New York Harbor and Midtown. Free guided tours are also offered, providing visitors with a unique perspective of the City.

Echoes of Revolution: NYC | Downtown Manhattan | June 2026

Echoes of Revolution: NYC is a free, city-scale augmented reality walking tour exploring the City’s role in the American Revolution. The 90-minute mobile experience guides visitors through 10 historic sites in Lower Manhattan, including Bowling Green, Wall Street and Federal Hall, through immersive technology and visuals inspired by Assassin’s Creed III to connect present-day streets with the City’s Revolutionary-era history.

Edge Reimagined Experience | Hudson Yards, Manhattan | June 2026

This summer, Edge introduced a redesigned indoor journey featuring a series of immersive installations that use mirrored environments, dynamic lighting, digital projections, and sound to guide visitors from the fourth floor entrance to the one 100th floor sky deck. The experience transitions guests through multiple themed spaces before reaching the observation deck, adding a more structured, interactive component to the visit.

Dogs of Central Park: A Dog-Friendly History Tour | Midtown, Manhattan | Summer 2026

This story-driven walking tour through Central Park explores the park’s canine history, from Balto to Pinky Panky Poo, the first canine guest of the Plaza Hotel and some of the park’s other unexpected four-legged stories. The 1.3-mile route, available as a public and private tour, is designed for both dog owners and dog lovers, so guests can bring their own dog or simply come along for the stories.

Times Travel at One Times Square | Times Square, Manhattan | August 2026

One Times Square opened Times Travel, a new immersive attraction exploring the history of Times Square through interactive environments, including a virtual Broadway taxi ride and 360-degree city views from a new observation deck.

The Unframed City: NYC Waterfront Art Tour by Untapped New York | Chelsea Piers, Manhattan | September 2026

New York Harbor becomes an open-air gallery on this tour highlighting public art, memorials and lesser-known installations along the waterfront. Aboard one of Classic Harbor Line’s 1920s-inspired Manhattan yachts, guests will take in artwork while exploring the stories and sights that shape the City’s waterfront. Launching September 27, the tour is now available to book.

Immigrant Stories Food Tour | Lower East Side, Manhattan | September 2026 
Viral Food Tours’ newest tour follows generations of immigration, from the Jewish pushcart trade that became the City’s bagel counters to the Chinatown tea parlor that has fed the neighborhood since the 1920s. Five tastings carry guests from Essex Market to Little Italy, visiting Jewish, Dominican, Lebanese, Chinese and Italian kitchens, while sharing the story of the Five Points along the way. The tour runs on Sundays and Mondays.

Expanded Offering from New York CityPASS | Manhattan | September 2026

The updated New York CityPASS gives visitors more flexibility, allowing them to choose five attractions from a lineup of 10, including new additions Edge and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Prices have also been reduced to $149 for adults and $129 for children, with tickets valid for nine consecutive days.

Magic Mike Live | Midtown, Manhattan | October 2026

Magic Mike Live is coming to NYC in a custom-built venue in the heart of the Theatre District. Created and directed by Channing Tatum, the live production will bring the internationally recognized show to Manhattan.

Southern chicken chain Zaxby’s opened its first New York City location in the Bronx, bringing its chicken fingers, wings and signature sauces to the City for the first time. The Bronx location is the first of two planned NYC restaurants, with another planned for Manhattan.

Bronx Point is a 530,000-square-foot mixed-use development, opening in phases. The development will feature housing, retail, public space, a waterfront promenade and cultural programming, including the upcoming Hip Hop Museum set to open next year.

Gansevoort Square | Meatpacking District, Manhattan | Ongoing

Gansevoort Square, located on Little West 12th Street between Washington Street and Tenth Avenue, is expected to create affordable housing, expand the Whitney Museum with new facilities, improve operations for the High Line and provide a new 11,200-square-foot open space to enhance the neighborhood. 

Fifth Avenue Expansion | Midtown Manhattan | Ongoing

NYC is investing over $400 million, including an additional $250 million, to fund the transformation of Fifth Avenue between Bryant Park and Central Park into a pedestrian-friendly boulevard with wider sidewalks, shorter crossings, improved lighting and increased greenery for a safer and more enjoyable experience. This historic redesign will nearly double sidewalk widths, reduce traffic lanes from five to three, add more than 230 new trees and expand public spaces. It is also projected to pay for itself within five years through increased economic activity and job creation.

Park Avenue Redesign | Midtown Manhattan | Ongoing

NYC has unveiled plans to reimagine a stretch of Park Avenue between East 46th and 57th Streets as a greener, more pedestrian-friendly corridor. The proposal would widen medians; add seating, landscaping, new crosswalks and potential bike lanes; and remove one traffic lane in each direction, coinciding with the MTA’s rehabilitation of the train shed beneath the avenue. Developed through community input, the redesign aims to create a safer, more accessible public space in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

Grand Army Plaza Redesign | Prospect Heights, Brooklyn | Ongoing

A new proposal for Grand Army Plaza aims to transform the area into a safer, more accessible public space by better connecting the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Arch with Prospect Park. The redesign improves pedestrian and cyclist safety, streamlines bus traffic and adds public amenities as part of a broader effort to reimagine one of Brooklyn’s busiest intersections as a more welcoming civic space.

Arts and Culture

The American LGBTQ+ Museum | Upper West Side, Manhattan | 2027

The New York Historical will house a museum dedicated to showcasing global, national and local LGBTQ+ history and culture. Programming is scheduled to begin in 2027.

The Bronx Museum Newly Renovated South Wing | South Bronx | 2027

The Bronx Museum’s transformative renovation, funded by over $42.9 million in city support and designed by Marvel, is underway and will soon create a world-class facility to expand access to its free arts programming.

Casa Belongó | East Harlem, Manhattan | 2028

Belongó has secured a transformative $9 million grant from the New York State Council on the Arts to support construction of Casa Belongó, a new cultural hub in East Harlem focused on performance, education and community. Scheduled to open in 2028, the venue will include a performance hall, classrooms and shared community spaces.

Arts of Africa Collection Renovation at Brooklyn Museum | Prospect Heights, Brooklyn | 2027

The Brooklyn Museum is undertaking a $13 million renovation to create permanent galleries for its renowned Arts of Africa collection, transforming underused space into a dynamic new installation of over 300 works spanning antiquity to the present. The galleries—set to open in fall 2027—will connect with the museum’s Egyptian collection to present a more unified and expansive view of African art.

National Black Theatre | East Harlem, Manhattan | Late 2027

The National Black Theatre has embarked on a major capital redevelopment project that will transform the current property. The new multidisciplinary cultural arts facility, dedicated to promoting Black culture through theater, will be housed in 25,000 square feet of a mixed-use development. The Theatre of the Future will soft-open in 2027, with the inaugural season premiering in 2028.

Irish Arts Center | Midtown Manhattan | 2028

The Irish Arts Center is advancing phase two of its campus redevelopment, focused on renovating its historic tenement building and wood-paneled 100-seat theater. Construction is expected to begin in early 2027 and conclude by late 2028, transforming the West 51st Street building into a 75-seat flexible performance venue. The project will also provide upgraded office space, improved accessibility and safety, and much-needed storage to support programming better across both IAC buildings. 

Dominican Center for the Arts and Culture | Washington Heights and Inwood, Manhattan | May 2027

A $12.5 million investment is bringing the first-ever Dominican Center for the Arts and Culture to Upper Manhattan. Opening in May 2027, the 25,000-square-foot center will feature a museum, theater, galleries, oral history room and New York State’s only Spanish-language children’s library, in partnership with the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute.

East Side Coastal Resiliency Project and Floating + POOL at Pier 35 | Lower East Side, Manhattan | 2027

NYC is opening a filtered floating pool at Pier 35 as part of a $1.4 billion revitalization of the waterfront from East 25th Street to Montgomery Street. The upgrades include reconstructed recreation fields, playgrounds, a new water play area, an amphitheater, and improved access with a rebuilt Corlears Hook Bridge and enhanced bikeways.

Vale Restoration in Prospect Park | Prospect Park, Brooklyn | 2027

A $37.5 million restoration of the Vale in the northeast corner of Prospect Park is now underway, marking the area’s first major overhaul in more than 50 years. Led by Prospect Park Alliance, the project will revitalize historic landscapes, restore woodlands and add nature-focused amenities, with completion expected in 2027.

Children’s Museum of Manhattan | Upper West Side, Manhattan | 2028

Children’s Museum of Manhattan is relocating to the former Church of Christ, Scientist, building at West 96th Street and Central Park West in a major expansion for the institution. The new building will nearly double the museum’s total space, with projections to double annual attendance to approximately 750,000 visitors, significantly expanding its capacity for exhibitions, programming and community engagement.
