Here’s a look at recent retail openings around the City.

Empire Outlets
Staten Island’s long-awaited Empire Outlets development opened in May 2019 at the St. George ferry landing. The free ferry between the borough and Lower Manhattan offers breathtaking views of the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor. Your clients can score deals on famous brands like Guess, Jockey, Levi’s and Nike or grab a bite at Shake Shack or one of several other restaurants at the mall.
Empire Stores
Dumbo’s Empire Stores development, home to indie darlings like Detroit import Shinola and the social-impact-driven brand Feed, has recently welcomed the Time Out Market, a food hall where your clients can sample some of Brooklyn’s best cuisine. There’s Thai fusion spot Fish Cheeks; pizza from local favorite Juliana’s; and Nur, helmed by noted Israeli chef Meir Adoni.

Hermès
Manhattan’s Meatpacking District welcomed luxury retailer Hermès to Gansevoort Street last April. The newest NYC location—Hermès also has stores on Madison Avenue and in Lower Manhattan’s Brookfield Place development, plus a smaller shop at JFK Airport’s Terminal 1—has more than 5,000 square feet (465 square meters) of retail space and features a café.

Macy’s Herald Square
Macy’s has launched Story—an interactive, narrative-driven retail concept—at 36 stores nationwide, including the Herald Square flagship in Midtown Manhattan and several other locations in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. Each Story display functions as a pop-up store within a store, highlighting merchandise that has been thoughtfully curated around a theme.

Madison Avenue
Several notable shops have opened on Madison Avenue between East 57th Street and East 86th Street. Cuyana, known for its high-quality artisanal leather goods and minimalist apparel, and Italian luxury footwear brand Sergio Rossi are among the new additions, which also include fashion, footwear and jewelry brands, art galleries and more.
MLB Flagship Store
This summer, Major League Baseball’s first permanent US retail location will open in Midtown West near Rockefeller Center. The forthcoming store will be run by Legends, a well-established sportswear company with branches throughout the US, and will sell merchandise for all 30 MLB teams.

Nordstrom
Last year, Nordstrom opened its new 320,000-square-foot (29,729-square-meter) flagship at Broadway and 57th Street, just south of Central Park. Visitors can shop for apparel, footwear, home goods, jewelry and more. Just across the street is the 47,000-square-foot (4,366-square-meter) Nordstrom Men’s Store NYC, which debuted in late 2018.

Saks Fifth Avenue
L’Avenue, the only US branch of the acclaimed Parisian eatery, recently opened at Saks Fifth Avenue’s flagship store in Midtown. The two-story restaurant was designed by architect Philippe Starck, and the menu highlights classic Parisian dishes. The iconic department store also recently launched a beauty floor where visitors can shop more than 120 cosmetics, fragrance, skincare and wellness brands.

Shops at Hudson Yards
The Hudson Yards development on Manhattan’s far west side is anchored by the City’s first Neiman Marcus department store, which opened last year. The complex has more than 100 outlets, including Muji, Piaget, Tory Burch and Zara. There’s also 3Den (pronounced “Eden”)—a haven where weary travelers can catch a nap and a shower in spa-style bathrooms—and an outpost of the Sally Hershberger salons for clients who need a place to recharge after a long flight.
Tiffany & Co.
A $250 million renovation is underway at Tiffany & Co.’s legendary flagship store, which is set to reopen next year. It’ll be a must-visit for lovers of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, both the 1958 novella by Truman Capote and the 1961 movie starring Audrey Hepburn. In the meantime, shoppers can buy their diamonds and other fine jewelry, as well as home accessories, right next door at 6 E. 57th St.
